Note: Test questions are done based on MOE Syllabus. Applicants are strongly encouraged to be familiar with the English and Mathematics topics standard equivalent to Singapore Mainstream Primary or Secondary Schools. All PACT papers are closed test assessment. Applicants are allocated a room and a specific amount of time to complete test questions. Applicants are not allowed to refer to any books or notes.

Use of Scientific Calculators

The use of Scientific Calculators is allowed for candidates sitting for Secondary 2 and 3 (Math Paper 2). The usage of calculators is subjected to the following conditions:

- the calculator must be non-programmable, with a visual display only;

- the working condition of the calculator (including the power supply) is the responsibility of the candidates;

- instruction leaflets or instructions and formulae printed on the lid or cover of a calculator or similar materials must not be in the possession of candidates during the test. (where the instructions cannot be removed they should be securely covered);

- external storage media (e.g. card, tape, and plug-in modules) must not be in the possession of candidates during the test;

- calculators must not be borrowed from other candidates in the course of the test for any reason;

- standard scientific calculators with features such as Fraction calculations; Permutation; Combination; Statistical calculations such as mean, standard deviation and factorials; Regression analysis; Complex number calculations and  Polar/Rectangular coordinate conversions are acceptable;

- programmable calculators and those with permanent features of a programmed kind such as numerical integration; symbolic differentiation; symbolic integration and symbolic algebraic manipulation are prohibited;

- calculators which are able to display graphical representation of functions or data, e.g. calculators with data banks or graphic displays, are prohibited;

- calculators with the capability of remote communication with other machines, e.g. infra-red communication capability, are prohibited.

Warning:

The use of any calculators with unacceptable features is an infringement of the regulations. Any candidate found doing so will be deemed as attempting to cheat and will have the prohibited item confiscated for the duration of the test and/or be expelled from the examination hall.

Test Guidelines for Candidate

Important Things To Bring:

1. Candidate MUST bring following documents for entry and verification at all times of the examination.

- Candidate’s Original Passport (For International Students) or NRIC/Birth Cert (For Singaporeans)
- Letter of Confirmation which serves as the Entry-proof

2. Candidates are required to bring their own writing tools and mathematical instruments.

- Writing Tools - Pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, etc.
- Mathematical Instruments - Flexible curve and mathematical construction sets (Applicable for Secondary Levels)
- Calculators (Applicable for Secondary 2 and 3)

Test Regulations:

1. The Original Passport (For International Students) or NRIC/Birth Cert (For Singaporean) and Letter of Confirmation are compulsory identity documents required for admission into the examination hall/room. These documents are to be placed at the right side of the table at all times during the examination for verification purposes.

2. This is a closed-book test. Candidates are not allowed to bring dictionaries, study notes, computer aids and communicative / electronic devices capable of storing (e.g. Pocket PC, Mobile phones) or displaying visual or verbal information into the examination hall/room. Candidates found to be in possession of such materials / devices during the examination will be deemed as an attempt to cheat.

3. Do not leave any sheet of your answers, notes or diagrams in such a position that another candidate can read them. All answer materials should be covered up.

4. Candidates must observe silence at all times while inside the examination hall/room. Any form of verbal or non-verbal communication between candidates during the examination will be deemed as an attempt to cheat.

5. Candidates are required to bring their own writing materials and mathematical instruments such as calculators, set-squares, compasses, protractors and rulers.

6. Usages of non-programmable electronic calculators are allowed by Secondary 2 & 3 PACT candidates attempting Math Paper 2. Only approved calculators are allowed into the examination hall/room. As a guide, please refer to the list of acceptable calculator models.

7. No candidate may leave the examination hall throughout the duration of paper unless permitted by the invigilator.

8. No candidate is allowed to reproduce / remove any part of the exam materials in any format / medium.

9. Candidates must remain seated at their respective desks while the papers are being collected.


Disqualification Warning:

1. Candidate will not be graded for the paper(s) if he/she:

-  is absent for the paper(s); or

-  attempts to cheat by way of obtaining unfair assistance and/or engaging in dishonest conduct; or

- behaves in an manner that is disruptive to the examination

2. Failure to comply with the examination rules and regulations may result in the expulsion of the candidate from the examination hall/room. Candidates found engaging in dishonest conduct will be refused entry for any remaining papers and may be barred from participation in the subsequent Principals Academy Certification Tests.

 

Guide to Action:

1. Ensure that your full name and passport number is written CLEARLY on the front cover and every additional sheets of writing paper used.

2. Do not commence writing until you are told to do so.

3. Candidates should write their answers legibly in black or blue ink. Pencils are to be used for diagrams only.

4. Candidates are to be seated in the examination hall/room at least 30 minutes earlier. Late comers will not be given additional time and they will end their papers together with the rest of the candidates.

5. When you are told to stop writing, you must do so promptly.

6. Candidates are not encouraged to go for toilet breaks when the examination is in progress.

7. Candidates are advised to read the questions carefully and good time management is also essential. You should not spend too much time on a few questions and leave no time for others.

8. Inform the invigilator IMMEDIATELY should you find that:

- there is a blank page where there should be questions.

- a wrong question paper has been given

- printing is unclear

- materials such as working papers have not been provided

9. Candidates are to ensure the examination hall/room remains clean at all times.


Results:

1. The examination board issues the results usually within a month after the examination.

2. Results may be delayed or withheld where any of the rules and regulations has been breached.
